Rey had heard the message his entire childhood, “You’ll never amount to anything.” Those closest to him said he’d die a tragic death. Faced with challenge after challenge, at just 15 years old, Rey almost proved them right. He tried to escape the pain through a suicide attempt.

Thankfully, doctors saved Rey that night. Then, Rey began to save himself.

Rey came to Rancho San Antonio and began to do the work, the hard work ~ to risk, change, grow. He came to realize that while every youth at Rancho had a different story, they all shared one thing: deep childhood trauma.

“I learned I was addicted to misery; my life had conditioned me not to care for myself, my own father made me believe I was worthless.”

Rey faced his story, he rewrote his script, and he began envisioning a future…one with promise and possibilities. After Rancho, Rey went to college, became a father, and built a highly successful career.

“Thinking back, I was always told I would be nothing, and was destined to die tragically. The counselors at Rancho told me that I could be something. I believed them.”

Rey’s journey is powerful, but he’s just one of many. Each week, youth arrive at Rancho San Antonio carrying their own stories of pain and resilience, each needing the safety, support, and guidance that helped Rey reclaim his life. Your financial support ensures that more young people like Rey have the chance to break free from their past and build a brighter future. With your help, we can provide a more robust program to assist with the healing process, help our youth see their worth and believe, as Rey did, that they are capable of so much more.

Your tax-deductible, year-end gift of $50, $100, $250 or more will help us continue our legacy of providing trauma informed services to youth and their families.

  • A generous gift of $1,000 will provide essential vocational training for one of our transitional aged youth
  • $500 will fund outings like horseback riding or fishing trips, events that most of our residents have never experienced
  • $250 will help our residential units prepare for the holidays with festive decorations and activities
  • $100 will provide art supplies for our Creative Healing Arts program
  • $50 will provide two $25 gift cards to assist our families with transportation to and from therapy, and home passes for the youth

Over the years, while our programming has expanded, the focus of Rancho San Antonio has remained steadfast in providing trauma informed services to youth and families in our community who need them most. We’re extremely proud of the work we do and are grateful for generous supporters like you who help provide the critical funds we need to transform lives.

Rancho gratefully accepts cash donations, gifts of stocks and qualified charitable distributions from IRAs.  Thank you, in advance, for making Rancho San Antonio a priority through your charitable gift.

From our team and families to you and yours, may the holidays bring you comfort and peace.

In gratitude,

Aubree Sweeney, LMFT
